WWII JAPANESE OFFICER'S TYPE 19 KYU-GUNTO SABER

World War II-era Japanese Army Officer's Type 19 Kyu-Gunto saber featuring a 30.75" blade and 35.5" overall length. It has a black celluloid grip (missing the brass wire wrap) and a brass European-style D-guard decorated with floral designs, cherry blossoms, and a family crest (mon). The nickel-plated blade shows areas of wear and light rust consistent with age. The sword is housed in a nickel-plated steel scabbard with a single suspension ring, showing expected oxidation and an attractive patina. These western-style Kyu-Gunto swords were used until 1934 before being replaced by the Shin-Gunto.
