Classic sentimental scene showing a kind schoolmistress reading to a large group of young children gathered around her in a cozy, old-fashioned cottage schoolroom. High-quality colour reproduction, very nicely presented with double green/black/gold matting and placed in a clean silver metal frame (overall size approx. 15" long × 12" high × 1" thick). Original title plaque at the bottom reads: "The School Room by Arthur Rankley (1819–1872)" Back shows original cardboard with white cord hanger and the classic "Quality product – Made in Britain" sticker.
