Glazed Pottery Vase by Joseph Meyer. 5 5/8" high. A fine Arts and Crafts period ceramic vase produced by Newcomb College Pottery of New Orleans, Louisiana. The vessel features a cylindrical body with slightly rounded shoulders and a short flared neck. It is finished in a uniform matte teal-green glaze exhibiting subtle mottling and fine overall crazing characteristic of the period. The unglazed circular base is incised with the Newcomb College monogram (an N within a C), the potter's mark JM for Joseph Meyer, and the letter W indicating a white clay body. A small central registration or date stamp is also present. Joseph Meyer was the lead potter at Newcomb from 1896 until 1927, and this piece represents the elegant simplicity of the college's early 20th-century production. Burns in-house...
