Here we have a Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Army Pistol, made in 1918 in Hartford, Connecticut. John Moses Browning’s famous pistol was adopted by the U.S. government in 1911 and attained iconic status throughout both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam and beyond.This one was made in the last year of the Great War. It is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” on the left side of the frame. Also on the left side of the frame behind the trigger is the “Eagle S/4” government inspector mark.
