“Collectors” Manufactured in 1918 as per serial number. Here we have a Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Army Pistol, made in 1918 in Hartford, Connecticut. John Moses Browning’s famous pistol was adopted by the U.S. government in 1911 and attained iconic status throughout both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam and beyond.This one was made in the last year of the Great War. It is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” on the left side of the frame. Also on the left side of the frame behind the trigger is the “Eagle S/4” government inspector mark. The right side of the slide is marked “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY”. The serial number dates the gun to 1918. The left side of the slide is marked “...
