Bookends with Mottled Honey-Brown Glaze. This is a pair of vintage ceramic bookends in the style of designs produced by Kathodian Bronze Works (KBW). Each piece features a seated, nude child or cherub figure intently reading a small open book held in both hands. The figures are positioned atop a stack of two large books. The items are constructed from cream-colored earthenware ceramic and finished in a high-gloss, mottled honey-brown glaze. This glaze style, reminiscent of Rockingham or Bennington pottery, pools in the recessed areas of the sculpture to provide depth and highlight details.
